This form is to be used to enrol in the Deck Hand (GPH) Training Initial Enrolment Course

Payment to complete the course is made in 2 stages:

STAGE 1 - Initial Enrolment Payment: $395.00 inclusive of GST.
On receipt of the initial enrolment our Head Trainer will contact you and provide you with all training manuals and study notes, a training study plan and access to our online assessment material. He is also available for regular contact to assist you in your studies. This stage can be undertaken in your own time and at your own pace.
There is no need to attend any class sessions.

STAGE 2 - Final Enrolment Payment: $495.00 inclusive of GST
When you have completed Stage 1 you can book in for the final stage. Stage 2 bookings and payment must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the 2 day practical session which is conducted on board our training vessel. During Stage 2 you will put into practice the following skills:

• Mooring and Berthing the Vessel
• Splicing, Knots and Hitches
• Anchoring the Vessel
• Man Overboard and Fire Drills
• Helmsman Duties
• On Board Maritime Safety
• Practical Survival at Sea

Discounts/Bonuses:

1. We will provide FREE additional training to you to obtain a NSW Maritime Boat Licence to the value of $195.00 if you do not already possess a Boat Licence
2. We provide all training manuals FREE in a downloaded format from our website
3. If you require a hard copy training manual we can provide the Australian Boating Manual (value $89.95) at a discounted rate of $55.00 all General Purpose Hands.

Location: Course are held in Newcastle monthly

Accommodation:
We have many students who come from outside the Newcastle area. There is low cost accommodation nearby and we can assist with accommodation if required. Two places that many people have stayed at are:
The Albion Hotel Hannell Street, Wickham (PH:+61 2 4962 2411)(100 metres from the vessel). They provide accommodation for $55.00 per night twin share or $110.00 single including breakfast. The hotel is very clean and has recently been refurbished.

Additional Costs:

1. A current 1st Aid Certificate is required. You can obtain this from a provider of your choice for between $120.00 and $150.00. We recommend that you obtain a 1st Aid Certificate prior to completing Stage 2. If this is not possible it should be undertaken as soon as possible on completion of the course.
2. It is also neccessary to obtain a medical and eyesight certificate from your local General Practioner.
3. A Record of Service (RoS) Book is also required to be obtained from NSW Maritime at a current cost of $29.00
