This form is to be used to enrol in the Coxswain Training Course

Payment to complete the course is made in 2 stages:

STAGE 1 - Initial Enrolment Payment: $695.00 inclusive of GST.
On receipt of the initial enrolment will contact you and provide you with a hard copy of the Australian Boating Manual (900 pages +) and access to our online assignment material. We can be contacted 7 days a week to assist you in your studies. This stage can be undertaken in your own time and at your own pace.
There is no need to attend any class sessions.

STAGE 2 - Final Enrolment Payment: $900.00 inclusive of GST
When you have completed Stage 1 you can book in for the final stage. Stage 2 bookings and payment must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the 5 day (2 days in one week and 3 days in the second) practical session which is conducted on board our training vessel. During Stage 2 you will put into practice the following skills:

• Mooring and Berthing the Vessel
• Manoeuvring a vessel
• Coastal Navigation
• Understand the Buoyage System and conduct night buoyage passage
• Operating Deck Equipment (Lifting Gear and Anchor winches)
• Marine Radios
• Collision Regulations including Buoyage systems
• Fight and Extinguish Fires
• Environmental Regulations
• Knowledge of Marine Engines
• Knowledge of Start Up & Shut Down procedures
• Knowledge of Low Voltage Electrical systems

1. We will provide FREE additional training to you to obtain a NSW Maritime Boat Licence to the value of $195.00 if you do not already possess a Boat Licence
2. We include the Australian Boating Manual (value $89.95) FREE of charge to all Coxswain candidates

Location: Course are held in Newcastle monthly

Accommodation:
We have many students who come from outside the Newcastle area. There is low cost accommodation nearby and we can assist with accommodation if required. Two places that many people have stayed at are:
The Albion Hotel Hannell Street, Wickham (PH:+61 2 4962 2411)(100 metres from the vessel). They provide accommodation for $55.00 per night twin share or $110.00 single including breakfast. The hotel is very clean and has recently been refurbished.

Additional Costs:

1. A current 1st Aid Certificate is required. You can obtain this from a provider of your choice for between $120.00 and $150.00. We recommend that you obtain a 1st Aid Certificate prior to completing Stage 2.
2. It is also neccessary to obtain a medical and eyesight certificate from your local General Practioner.
3. A Record of Service (RoS) Book is also required to be obtained from NSW Maritime at a current cost of $29.00
4. A Marine Radio Certificate is required from the Office of Maritime Communications. Cost is $225.00 which includes the current examination fee of $56.00
